moving parts, but maybe even a revisit to the couples, two at a time, in future books I mist some of the first boys, like Wid and Joel I havethan enjoyed the sci fi adventure that Samantha Cayto has please listen to the publisher s warnings regarding potential triggers in these books There are shocking scenes of non con and dub con plus physical, mental, and emotional abuse If any of that bothers you then these might not be the books for you I was very intrigued to be beginning book five, as based on the description the storyline was taking a completely different turn from the norm of a Travian master and a human pet. What a predicament to find yourself in Wen has arrived on a planet the humans call New World Colony Seven where a small containment of humans are working the land with a Travian military garrison nearby Wen is a life scientist and he goes out one morning only to be chased and kidnapped by humans who have a secret, experimental settlement in the hills where humans and Travians are working together, calling it a Naturalist movement In order to not become the junior boy to a warrior Travian who makes Wen very uneasy, he offers himself, instead, to the human commander, Dax Oh boy I should mention that it s best if these books are read in order as there are a lot of cultural traditions that if missed might leave you very confused. As Wen and Dax begin to get to know one another, they still don t trust each other They both have their suspicions regarding activities occurring around the settlement and if they d only talked about it, perhaps some of the crap that happened could have been prevented Dax certainly can t confide his true reasons for being on Seven and Wen is hesitant to share what he has observed from a few former Travian warriors Then again, I could certainly see both sides of the picture, so the way it all played out was meant to be.Never in a million years could I have predicted the direction the author was going to take this story It was absolutely fabulous with some wonderful possibilities for future books The rebellion against the Travian matriarchal rule is still going strong and humans are becoming entangled within the fighting It s in the best interests of both parties to work together to destroy the rebellion Definitely looking forward toNOTE This book was provided by Pride Publishing for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews I like how this one turns the tables one the roles in this one Its the alien thats the captive and using what you have learnt in the other series it develops well Enjoyed it. the start and each time I pick it up wondering how the author will make me fall in love with the characters and the harsh brutal environment they live in once again and each time she does it ten fold The Travians are a species that hold customs the humans find brutal and cruel, which they are They take human boys as sex slaves, claiming with them through sex, and owning them through brute force Sometimes the Travian is cruel and abusive, even for Travian standards, and sometimes a bond grows so strong the human and alien do not want to part The Travian s have no need for the planet that the humans are occupying but they are determined to get rid of them all the same Now with a Travian rebellion on the rise they now have their own internal issues to deal with, and fast Most of the stories have taken place nearly completely on the Travian ships The last book gave us a look deeper into the rebellion that has taken root and this one brings us even deeper I was pleasantly surprised and overjoyed to see this one was not The setting, on a dust bowl of a planet, was completely different from the previous stories as well as the dynamic between the humans and aliens being subverted Because this time it was the Travian cadet , who is considered a runt, Wen that was the captive of the human Commander Jonathan Dax A man of imposing size and strength, nothing compared to one of the aliens but strong enough that Wen feels safer with him once he is caught then someone of his own kind. This one also takes a different route from the others with the dubcon and noncon that were in the previous ones, which I loved, but I have to say the complete turnaround from those stories to this one gave it a fresh appeal that I completely loved Since Wen is Travian he doesn t see being taken as Dax s boy as a bad thing or the sexual bond that needs to happen to cement his loyalty to Dax He understands the custom so he gives himself freely to his new master I thought the mistrust between these two felt realistic and a cause really for a lot of the issue since the mistrust runs not just on an individual level but toward each species as a whole That one is one aspect of this story that I love watching change with each book and each couple slowly changing the minds of those around them I cannot wait to read the next one to see how this rebellion among the Travian s plays out and how the human may or may not help stop it in it s tracks I received a copy of this book through I received a copy of this title to read and review for Wicked Reads 4 starsI m always thrilled to get my storyline throughout, with connecting characters. In previous installments, the humans are the pets of the Travian aliens In an interesting twist, The Inconvenient Pet features a human with a pet Travian I was hooked from page one, reading the entire book in one sitting Dax was a solid character strong, stern, ethical, but with a good heart There was an added bonus of angst with Dex and Wen s relationship that was absolutely delicious Wen reminded me of a naive boy who had been mentally, emotionally, and physically wounded They balanced each other out nicely, without it being Dax in control and Wen submitting The Travians vs humans, vs Travians humans is prevalent in this installment Politics, military both Travian Human steamy scenes, non consensual themes All of this combines to form an I can t put it down read Can t wait to get my hands on the next installment, hopefully sooner rather than later When I see the new release, I always get a thrill in my belly 3.75 This in my opinion was by far the best book of the series so far.It was interesting as the author spun it around so the human was the master and Wen great to see him again became the boy.It was great to see Joel s Travian friend Wen back again after the abuse he suffered in Joel s book He still carries the internal scars from that time and doesn t trust many males.I liked that he chose to become the boy for Dax, and that through it all he understood that the Travian s were stronger and 3.75 This in my opinion was by far the best book of the series so far.It was interesting as the author spun it around so scars from that time and doesn t trust many males.I liked that he chose to become the boy for Dax, and that through it all he understood that the Travian s were stronger and could hurt the humans in the settlement.I also like that he brought with him his moral compass He didn t blame anyone for his predicament other than himself and when needed he wanted to protect the humans and the females of the colony.I thought Dax and his internal struggle with what was happening was good to see, especially considering he was so critical of the Travian s keeping the other boys.I d love to see how Wen goes in the human settlement and I hope that the guys can protect him This is my standard warning for this series Please pay attention to the warnings on this book and this series There is non con, dub con, abuse, and maybe some torture If that will bother or trigger you, then I recommend staying away However, if you are a brave reader or want a different type of adventure, then I really cannot However, if you are a brave reader or want a different type of adventure, then I really cannot recommend this series highly enough. And now to the review.Once again, Samantha Cayto has outdone herself While each of the last four books follows a standard formula in terms of Travian versus human relationship, this book changes everything we know While there are some familiar characters who make an appearance some in person, some by name the book takes the regular model and reverses it Instead of the Travian being the dominant one in the relationship, now it s the humans If you ve read the series which you absolutely should then Wen will be familiar He makes an appearance in the second book with Joel, and I adored him I m so glad to see him come back and earn a chance at happiness Also, if you read the previous book with Rone and Frey, then Ben and Dax will be familiar to you as well.Wen ends up accidentally captured by Dax and his crew when he stumbles somewhere he shouldn t Dax doesn t want to kill Wen, that s not his style, but now he knows about the Naturalist camp where humans and Travians coexist, and they can t just let him go When the Travian guard who reminds Wen too much of his old, abusive master suggests taking Wen as his boy, Wen is not having it He offers himself to Dax instead Dax, disgusted by the offer, sees no choice in it when he realizes Wen is afraid of the other male And so begins their very reluctant relationship.I loved how Cayto flopped the roles for this book While I didn t mind the other way, it was refreshing to see the roles reversed Wen is a completely likeable character, as is Dax I also enjoyed Chloe Even though she does not have a large role in the book, it was great to see a human female for once who was strong and took no crap from the men around her I would like to seeof her in future books. As for the next book which there will be I am hoping Ben is the main character This is twice we have seen him now, and the poor kid was so hung up on Dax Now that he doesn t stand a chance, I hope he gets some happiness Either way, I look forward to the next book.If you haven t read this series, I highly recommend it Yes, there is non con and dub con, but I keep in mind that these are aliens, and as such they have different standards and morals They may not be ones we agree with, but that is the case with all cultures If you have been reading this series along with me, I d love to know what you think of Wen and Dax s story Reviewed by Jennifer for The Novel Approach Reviews
